On the Fact & the Study of Consciousness

Scientists have discovered that matter is nothing but a manifestation of cosmic energy. So there exists a single cosmic energy or force which is infinite in capacity and takes on the form of matter under certain conditions. Our holy scriptures also make the same assertion. But the universe is not mere matter which we can trace to atoms. You and I exist. Apart from our physical bodies which are, of course matter, there is the spark of intelligent consciousness in us which cannot come under the category of matter and that also has to be explained if a complete explanation of the universe is attempted. This universe is a vibration of consciousness and cosmic energy. It is created, sustained and dissolved in the infinite ocean of consciousness and cosmic energy. Scientists must concern themselves with consciousness. Only through a comprehensive study of consciousness can a complete explanation of the cosmos be found. --Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamigal

You have a nice blog here, but I noticed that you have a link to 'Advaita Meditation Center', I'm not sure if you are aware or not but this 'center' charges people $330 for mantra diksha, which is completely against the principles of Sanatana Dharma...I find it completely distrubing.

Hello Friend. Thank you for your encouraging remarks about this blog--and for your information about AMC. While I did know that they charged for classes (which makes some sense to me) I did not know AMC charged for mantra diksha.

My overall impression of this community is a good one, and I will look more closely moving forward based on what you say. I do have a contact I can email and ask about this.

There is no charge for anything here in Charlotte, NC. Everyone just pitches in as they wish to and things seem to work this way. I have no doubt that our community will grow at the rate that a genuine need for Advaita teaching manifests.

Best regards & pranams,

Nathan

Thank you for the response, the reason I brought this up is I am presently seeking receive mantra diksha / upadesham in Advaita Sampradaya and can find no where I can unless I go to India and presently I am not in a position to do so. (I have been to India twice and should have back then but was not into advaita vedanta at the time.

Any help would be most appreciative
